Jabil, a worldwide provider of engineering and manufacturing services, has unveiled a significant investment initiative aimed at addressing the surging demand for infrastructure supporting cloud and AI data centers. The company intends to invest around $500 million to grow its presence in the Southeastern United States, with operations anticipated to launch by mid-2026. This expansion aligns with Jabil’s larger strategy to cater to the evolving requirements of hyperscale data center operators.
Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President of Global Business Units at Jabil, emphasized the importance of domestic manufacturing for the future of artificial intelligence. “Building the hardware for AI innovation here at home is critical to securing America’s leadership in AI. It's not just an economic priority; it’s vital for national security,” Crowley said. The expansion will help Jabil better support its data center clients, positioning the company as a key player in the AI infrastructure market.
In conjunction with this investment, Jabil has completed the acquisition of Mikros Technologies, a provider of liquid cooling and thermal management systems. Mikros Technologies’ expertise in thermal solutions will bolster Jabil’s capacity to address the growing needs of AI data centers, where cooling systems are essential to handle the increased heat loads generated by high-performance computing and AI workloads.
This strategic expansion builds on Jabil’s existing U.S. manufacturing network, which spans 30 sites and leverages cutting-edge technologies like automation and robotics. The new facility will be a key addition to Jabil’s efforts to scale production for a range of industries, including AI, energy storage, and semiconductor testing.
