Space-based laser communication (SLC) refers to a technology that is used to communicate data between two or more spacecraft or between a satellite and a ground station by using laser beams instead of radio waves. In this procedure, one spacecraft transmits laser beams to another spacecraft, converting them as data, thereby creating a reliable, high-speed, low-power, and low-cost communication link. Encoded information is typically transmitted from a satellite to a ground station by directing a laser beam using modulation techniques, such as amplitude modulation or phase modulation. The laser beam is then decoded and translated upon reaching its destination.
