Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is a dense, colorless, and corrosive liquid prepared industrially by the reaction of water with sulphur trioxide (SO3). It is a non-combustible and concentrated acid that oxidizes, dehydrates, or sulfonates organic compounds. It also reacts with alcohol, water, and metals to form flammable hydrogen gas and enhance the combustion of other substances. As a result, it is extensively used in different concentrations to manufacture industrial goods, such as dyes, fertilizers, pigments, explosives, detergents, and inorganic salts and acids.
Sulphuric Acid Market Trends:
Declining arable land, growing global population, and increasing food security concerns are driving the need for fertilizers to produce high nutritional crops. As a result, there is a rise in the adoption of sulphuric acid in the agriculture industry to manufacture phosphate fertilizers, such as superphosphate of lime and ammonium sulfate, which have a high crop yield. Apart from this, the boosting sales of passenger and commercial vehicles worldwide are catalyzing the demand for sulphuric acid as it serves as an electrolyte in lead-acid storage batteries of motor vehicle engines, hospital imaging devices, and farming equipment. Besides this, due to its corrosive nature, sulphuric acid is widely utilized in household cleaning products, such as soap, dishwasher liquid, and laundry detergent. This, in confluence with the increasing awareness among individuals about household cleanliness and hygiene, is contributing to the market growth. Furthermore, the expanding applications of sulphuric acid as a catalyst to clean impurities from gasoline and refinery products in petrochemical refining and metallurgical processes, along with the thriving oil and gas sector, are anticipated to present key players operating in the industry with lucrative growth opportunities.
