Doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive test that utilizes high-frequency sound waves to estimate blood flow in arteries and veins. It is used to detect sound waves reflected from moving objects, such as red blood cells, and the flow of blow is measured by gauging the rate of alteration in its frequency. By measuring the rate of change in sound wave frequency, the procedure can assess the velocity of blood flow and detect obstructions in blood vessels. Doppler ultrasound involves a technician using a handheld transducer device to examine blood flow by pressing it against the skin and moving it across the body as needed. Unlike more invasive methods, such as angiography, which requires dye injection and X-ray imaging, Doppler ultrasound is non-invasive and pain-free as it only involves high intensity sound waves. It finds extensive applications in investigating possibilities of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), superficial thrombophlebitis, arteriosclerosis, carotid artery stenosis, congenital heart disease, arterial occlusion, peripheral artery disease, and aneurysms.
Doppler Ultrasound Market Trends:
The global market is primarily driven by the growing incidences of various chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disorders, hypertension, and kidney diseases. This can be attributed to the rising demand for early diagnosis and monitoring of diseases among the masses. In line with this, continual technological advancements, including the advent of handheld and portable Doppler ultrasound devices equipped with improved imaging quality, is providing an impetus to the market. Moreover, the increasing geriatric population that are more prone to chronic diseases and requiring regular monitoring of their health conditions is acting as a significant growth-inducing factor for the market. In addition to this, the augmenting demand for non-invasive diagnostic procedures among the masses is impacting the market positively. The market is further fueled by the accelerating awareness regarding prenatal care, along with the emerging trend of early detection of fetal complications. Apart from this, an enhanced focus on improving the overall healthcare infrastructure by various government bodies of several countries is providing lucrative opportunities in the market. Some of the other factors contributing to the market include rapid expansion of numerous point-of-care facilities, rapid urbanization, rising healthcare expenditure and extensive research and development (R&D) activities conducted by key players.
