A thermal scanner is a non-invasive infrared imaging device that detects and records temperature by creating an image of the heat generated by a device. It detects infrared energy and converts it into electrical signals to generate thermal images and temperature values. It is primarily used for monitoring and inspection of mechanical equipment and also for detecting human body temperature. It facilitates the identification of inflammation, tumors, peripheral nerve diseases and analysis and tracking of the efficacy of therapeutic treatments. It also finds applications for border surveillance, law enforcement, marine vessel collision avoidance and guidance systems and monitoring of structural health of an aircraft.
Thermal Scanners Market Trends:
Rapid industrialization across the globe represents one of the key factors driving the market growth. Thermal scanners are widely used across various industries, such as automotive, aerospace & defense, military, healthcare and oil and gas, for thermology, security and surveillance and search and rescue. Furthermore, as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues to spread, there has been a significant increase in the demand for thermal scanners at the airports and healthcare centers to detect the temperature of individuals with minimal contact. In line with this, the rising utilization of thermal scanners in automobiles is also contributing to the market growth. The scanner is integrated with the vehicle’s infotainment system to detect any activity on the road and minimize the risks caused by glares, darkness and animal crossings. Additionally, various product innovations, such as the development of portable thermal scanners, are acting as other growth-inducing factors. These variants can be integrated with the existing biometric systems for enhanced sensing and scanning capabilities. Other factors, including increasing modernization of the existing infrastructural systems, along with extensive research and development (R&D) activities, are anticipated to drive the market further.
